The Canadian Association of Professionals with Disabilities believes that actions at the grassroots, local, regional, national and international levels would be most effective with the coordination and sharing of skills, knowledge and resources. These discussions led to the incorporation of the British Columbia Association of Professionals with Disabilities and our support of an international body that maintains a collaborative and knowledge sharing approach in furthering the interests of professionals with disabilities from around the world.
Since the Canadian Association of Professionals with Disabilities’ headquarters is located in British Columbia, it was natural for us to help facilitate, support, and endorse Canada’s first regional presence in the creation of the British Columbia Association of Professionals with Disabilities soon after we were formed.
The British Columbia Association of Professionals with Disabilities is not a chapter of the Canadian Association of Professionals with Disabilities, but is a separate, autonomous, affiliate society. The relationship it has with the Canadian Association of Professionals with Disabilities is one of mutual support and collaboration, shared principles and values, and actively promoting social responsibility within and outside the organisations.
