Teamwork was a big part of my masters degree program. Learners were expected to find a team that would accept them as members. As a result, people were included based upon similarities and excluded for differences. This may explain why the handful of people with disabilities that entered my program quickly shrunk to include no one but me by the end of our second term. Constantly being treated as different and often less than those who exclude you is tough enough, but you also have to be more determined and confident in your abilities as you can be certain that you will feel unwanted and may even be told, as I was that people who require accommodations should not be allowed in masters programs.
